An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and proactive Pharmacist with previous experience in clinical trials to join our growing and forward thinking clinical trials team as a Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist to lead, manage and develop the Pharmacy clinical trials service. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist to join an innovative and progressive team. You will have significant experience as a GPhC registered pharmacist across multiple clinical and operational areas of pharmacy practice.
You will work as part of the research delivery team risk assessing new protocols, helping to confirm capability and capacity in pharmacy to the research and development department, setting up new studies and contributing to the management of established trials across a wide portfolio of specialties. You will be required to work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues, research delivery teams, external trial sponsors and management teams across all Hospital sites to ensure trials are set up in a timely manner, managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and facilitate excellent delivery of research. You will manage the members of the pharmacy trials teams and be responsible for the co-ordination and day to day support of the commercial and non-commercially sponsored trials.
The post holder will make up part of the R&I Management Team, working alongside the Research Delivery Team Leads. The post holder will also support the Head of R&I in advising, supervising, managing and supporting the relevant staff and developing and implementing policies and procedures.

The pharmacy departments have a good mix of staff including Pharmacy Support Workers, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, Administrative and Clerical staff and students.
The Pharmacy Clinical Trials service is a key part of the clinical research multi-disciplinary delivery team which aims to provide a safe and efficient service in the conduct of research across the organisation. The Pharmacy Clinical Trials service is a friendly, varied and busy service with a large portfolio IMP studies.
The R&I Department develops and delivers both commercial and non-commercial studies across the Trust. The main objective of the Research Delivery team is to facilitate, co-ordinate, support and manage clinical trials conducted across the spectrum of diseases and clinical needs across 4 Clinical Divisions, and to improve evidence based-medicine and optimise patient care.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the pharmaceutical aspects of studies adopted by the Trust are maintained in line with current legislation and both Trust and local standard operating procedures. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the pharmacy needs are understood. This may include such things as negotiation with regards to facilities, resources, capacity and finances in order to ensure the Trust meets its operational objectives.

Qualifications
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Training undertaken in Good Clinical Practice and EU clinical trials directive
* Evidence of Continuing professional Development
* Post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or related subject
* Management qualification completed or underway
* Knowledge of ICH and Good Clinical Practice.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Ability to analyse data in order to present a concise report
* Able to respond, prioritise and analyse complex problems/situations and ensure effective interventions are put in place in order to meet needs and deadlines.
* Able to take account of changing priorities and proactively amend plans accordingly.
* Able to produce high quality work without supervision.
Previous Experience
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical issues affecting clinical trials
* Understanding of the issues affecting medicines in the clinical trial setting
* Experience of working with clinical trials, subject to ICP GCP compliance
* Experience of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
* Experience of working as a pharmacist in a clinical trial setting.
* Good working knowledge of clinical trials, especially the pharmacy aspects.
* Commercial Trials experience.
* Experience of working within Aseptic facility, subject to EU GMP compliance
* Experience in dealing with personnel.
