Role overview:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM)/NEC3 Supervisor is responsible to Project Manager and has a key role in supporting the overall management and coordination of this capital infrastructure project.
The assistant project manager element of the role requirements is to assists in strategic planning, risk management, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
* Effective communication with stakeholders, contractors, and team members is paramount, as is the ability to adapt to unforeseen challenges and changes in project scope.
* This position requires a strong understanding of project management principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to the successful execution of capital infrastructure initiatives.
* The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.
* The post holder needs to be a UK Citizen and hold valid SC clearance (or be able to gain it) as this is a required for the project.
For the NEC3 Supervisor element of the role, we are looking for an experienced NEC3/4 construction supervisor to support delivery of project which sits within a nuclear safeguarding setting.
* You will work collaboratively to ensure construction activities are delivered to the highest quality and safety standards.
* Previous experience on a large civil engineering project is essential as well as being a dedicated and motivated Supervisor.
* The work you will do will give you exposure to senior stakeholders and project teams, you will be part of a highly skilled and ambitious team.
Responsibilities:
Support the PM in the management and administration of the contract.
* Support the PM to manage financial performance of projects to control expenditure against approved project budgets.
* Support the PM in undertaking project assurance and gateway reviews across the portfolio at key stages to evaluate progress, compliance, and probability of delivery to provide confidence to senior management, customers, and key stakeholders.
* Accountable for complying with all agreed Client processes and operating procedures and particularly those which are detailed under key infrastructure process.
* Monitors the performance of the organisation, technical support providers and supply chain, in terms of meeting their contractual obligations.
* Monitors financial performance throughout the project and prepares reports for stakeholders in line with organisational requirements. Obtains estimates for the costs of activities, events and overheads.
* Applies metrics to identify cost trends and to update estimates of final costs.
* Reviews proposed changes and determined their high-level impact, requesting further information or clarification where necessary.
* Assesses all options relating to the proposed changes and estimates their impacts.
* Act as stated in the NEC3 ECC contract and in a spirit of mutual trust and respect.
* Conduct Tests and inspections of the Works for compliance with the Scope.
* Attend Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing or nominate a suitable substitute.
* Communicate and issue any documents as required by Contract [ECI, ECC & short form]
* Notify Defects and carry out searches.
* Take account of Defects at Completion and the defects date.
* Mark for payment purposes Equipment, Plant and Materials outside the working area.
Requirements:
Essential
Excellent knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts and an understanding of CDM and Health and Safety. You will have exceptional attention to detail and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
* UK Citizen with SC Clearance or ability to gain it.
* Minimum 5 years post graduate experience
* Engineering technical qualifications, or project management qualifications
* ONC/OND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline
* Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
* Excellent working knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts
* CITB CSCS
* Experience of risk management
* HND in a related engineering/construction/project management discipline
Desirable
* HNC/HND or greater in Civil Engineering or related discipline
* NEC4 Supervisor accreditation
* First Aid certificate
* CEMAR experience
* IOSH Managing Safely NEC PM accreditation.
* Membership of Relevant professional body
* Attained APM PMQ or greater.
