Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 basis. This role is based in a welcoming primary school in the M38 area of Manchester and is full-time.
The successful candidate will act as a consistent, positive role model, supporting the pupil to engage with learning, manage emotions, and develop confidence and independence both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide consistent 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs
2. Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
3. Use positive behaviour strategies and clear boundaries to support progress
4. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans
5. Assist with learning activities, adapting tasks where required
6. Encourage teamwork, resilience, and positive social interaction
7. Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
8. Monitor progress and feedback to school staff
9. Ensure safeguarding, safety, and wellbeing at all times
Requirements
10. Experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs (preferred)
11. Confident, calm, and consistent approach to behaviour support
12. Strong communication and teamwork skills
13. Ability to act as a positive role model
14. Patient, reliable, and resilient personality
15. Commitment to safeguarding children
16. Relevant TA or SEND qualification (desirable but not essential)
