Teacher of Food & Textiles Technology (Home Economics)
Fixed term until 25/06/2027
Salary: £33,594 – £50,589.
Hours: 35 per week.
Portobello High School is a six-year comprehensive based in East of Edinburgh, with a roll of over 1500 students drawn mainly from five primary schools: Brunstane, Duddingston, Parsons Green, Royal High and Towerbank.
The school offers excellent facilities and a wide extra-curricular programme, especially in the arts and sports, and maintains positive links with parents, local businesses and the community.
Role Overview
This post offers an opportunity to join a large staff team within the Food and Textile Technologies faculty, a busy and thriving department led by a FTT curriculum leader.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the curriculum for S1–S3 BGE classes, National qualifications in Health and Food Technology, Practical Cookery, Practical Cake Craft, Hospitality: Skills for Work, and Fashion and Textile Technology.
* Teach higher level courses in Fashion and Textiles as well as Health and Food Technology, and deliver National Progression Awards in Bakery and qualifications in Barista.
* Support multiple learner pathways, future career aspirations and promote inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Required to be registered with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007; must join or update the PVG Scheme.
* Where applicable, demonstrate an overseas criminal record check for international travel exceeding 3 months within the last 5 years.
* Compliance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
