We are looking for a Parking Technician (Within Parking Technical) on a full time, permanent basis. You will be part of a team that work together to maintain the city's 291 parking machines, maintaining the cities On-Street and Off-Street Parking Machines. The Team The Parking Technical team sits within the Economy, Transport and Planning directorate. The team is made up of Seven officers, three Technicians, two Assistant Technicians and two Cash collectors. The team work together to maintain the city's 291 parking machines, signage and cash collections as directed by the Parking Operations Technical Supervisor or Team Leader The role Working within the Parking Technical section you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of parking machines and other associated equipment. This is a very varied role which will require you to work flexibly as you will be also working outside of normal core hours on a rota basis, to include weekends and public holidays. The role will also involve assisting the Signage Technician with installation of signage which may include manual handling duties, also the cash collectors. You will also be responsible for the safekeeping and accounting of keys and money as directed by the Parking Operations Technical Supervisor and Team Leader. A uniform will be provided and must be always worn whilst on duty. Who is the person You will have working knowledge of street furniture i.e. signs/parking machines/phone boxes or similar and hold a G39 electric safety certificate or equivalent; or willing to undertake training to achieve G39 certification You will demonstrate experience of maintaining and repairing machinery (i.e. parking machines, fax machines or similar). You will also have a background in mechanical/electrical engineering and knowledge of computer programming, xml and Text files would be advantageous. You will have the ability to carry out physical duties involved in the post such as moving parking machines/climbing ladders/installing signage/Lifting cash boxes. You will be able to work from a height to enable you to climb ladders/install signage etc. Youwill be someone who has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills as you will be communicating with both internal and external customers. You will also have a proactive attitude to team working and be willing to support your colleagues as required. You must also give details of your relevant engineering qualification or relevant work experience in this field.
