Job Title: Section Engineer - Railway
Type: Contract, 6 months
Location: Ruislip
Day Rate: Dependant on experience
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Section Engineer to join a major rail infrastructure project valued at £25 million. The role focuses on the delivery of complex permanent works for a new railhead development and involves significant interaction with key subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee engineering activities related to permanent works including:
Sheet pile installation
Reinforced concrete pile caps
Soil anchors
Permanent drainage
Highway construction
Provide technical support and guidance to site engineers.
Prepare and manage Health & Safety documentation including RAMS, WPPs, TBS, and relevant permits.
Ensure Safe Systems of Work are in place, including Permit to Dig and Temporary Works processes.
Act as Temporary Works Supervisor, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
Review and assess constructability of upcoming works to mitigate risk and ensure efficient delivery.
Liaise with subcontractors to coordinate and monitor timely delivery of:
RAMS
ITPs
Permits and consents
Coordinate with internal teams including Logistics, Utilities, and Community Relations.
Implement and maintain robust Quality Assurance processes with full documentation.
Present 6 week lookahead programmes to stakeholders and senior management.
Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
Strong background in rail or major infrastructure projects.
Proven experience in managing subcontractors, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
Technical understanding of piling, drainage, soil anchoring, and reinforced concrete structures.
Previous involvement in similar large scale railway / infrastructure schemes is highly desirable.
