Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic band 6 podiatrist, to join our friendly and experienced community podiatry team. The successful candidate will be working in a variety of settings across Sutton Health and Care, and will manage a mixed caseload including routine and high risk patients, within clinics and on domiciliary visits. You will also undertake basic biomechanical assessments and treatments, and participate in the nail surgery rota.

The post holder will be part of a very supportive and collaborative team, which has strong working relationships with other services including the Threatened Limb Service, MSK, District Nursing, Tissue Viability, Orthopaedics and Rheumatology. You will also be supported and encouraged where possible, to continue learning and developing your career and clinical skills in your areas of interest.

Main duties of the job

To provide services at a wide variety of sites including a patient's home, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals and in challenging conditions, often working in isolation

To assess, diagnose, develop treatment plans and provide effective podiatric treatments, using a problem solving approach based on clinical need and evidence based practice.

To commit to the philosophy of care with an emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education and information to help patients manage their own foot needs.

To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload seeking guidance as appropriate.

Adhere to all of the relevant Trust Policies and Guidelines and Professional standards of care.

Working for our organisation

St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
