We are recruiting for an Application Support Engineer to join a growing technology business based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and supporting bespoke software solutions and Linux-based infrastructure, while working closely with customers and developers to deliver high-quality support.
The Role
As an Application Support Engineer, you will:
* Maintain and support bespoke software applications.
* Manage and improve build and release processes.
* Keep infrastructure patched, secure, and up to date.
* Release and patch software in a timely and controlled manner.
* Liaise directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* Collaborate with developers and technical teams to find and implement solutions.
* Travel across the UK when required.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for candidates with:
* Knowledge of Java - advantageous.
* Experience with databases (MySQL / SQL Server).
* Familiarity with VMware / Proxmox - beneficial.
* Knowledge of automation and containerisation tools such as Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, SVN, Terraform - advantageous.
* Scripting experience with Bash or Python - beneficial.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence in customer-facing situations.
* A proactive, well-organised, and team-oriented approach.
* Full UK driving licence - desirable.
* Eligibility to obtain UK Government Security Clearance (a pre-requisite for the role).
