Oncology Pharmacist/Leicester/Oadby/Full Time

Spire Leicester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an Oncology Pharmacist to join the team on a Full Time basis.

Duties and responsibilities:

To provide an exemplary pharmacy service in accordance with current legislation accepted professional and ethical standards and clinical requirements.

To be responsible for leading, managing and delivering the specialist pharmacy service of oncology.

To provide advice and support to consultants, other clinicians and patients ensuring the safe, appropriate and cost effective use of medicines.

To advise the hospital and its departments on the safe management of medicines, ensuring compliance with current legislation and professional standards.

To promote a multidisciplinary, patient focused approach to the delivery of an efficient, high quality healthcare service.

Accountabilities

1. Plan, deliver and evaluate pharmaceutical care to meet patient’s health and wellbeing needs.
2. Assess the health and well-being of patients whose needs may be complex and changing within the context of their medicines.
3. Plan, monitor and evaluate the movement of medicines.
4. Establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on complex, sensitive and occasionally contentious issues in a range of situations.
5. Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice.
6. Modify and structure data, information, computer records and stock management documents.
7. Delegate work to others
8. Plan, monitor and quality assure the application of technology for the provision of chemotherapy treatment
9. Monitor and maintain physical and/or financial resources for a work area;
10. Develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others.
11. Contribute to the development of services.
12. Assist with research and the collection of factual data and information.
13. Promote best practice in health and safety and security.
14. Contribute to quality improvement
15. Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights.
16. Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.

Who we're looking for:

17. Degree (BSc/MSc Hons).
18. Current member of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
19. Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied patient requirements.
20. Worked in a pharmacy.
21. Highly specialist knowledge through a diploma in clinical pharmacy and/or acquired through training and experience, particularly in the field of oncology.
22. Competence across a range of pharmaceutical subjects supported by
23. Supervisory/Management qualification
24. Previous experience as a pharmacist specialising in the provision of an oncology service
25. Experience of working in partnership with consultants and across clinical teams
26. Analysing clinical and management problems and coming up with viable solutions
27. Working as a practitioner in and across multi-disciplinary teams
28. Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied patient oncology cases
29. Challenging consultants to influence evidence based practice
30. Share evidence based practices with colleagues to enhance service and standards
31. Experience of working in partnership with consultants and participating in creating innovative solution for the oncology service
32. Experience of clinical leadership. developing peers
33. Previous supervisory experience
34. Experience of independent sector
35. Support the commercial development of the oncology business locally
36. Effective stock and budgetary control
