Job Description:
We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Senior Technical Buyer to join our specialised team at CALLUM; focused on small series production, show car builds, and other exciting fields. This role combines strategic sourcing with hands-on management to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, on-time limited-run product commissions. You will manage procurement activities end-to-end from concept through to delivery, ensuring all parts, materials, and services meet bespoke specifications, aggressive lead times, and premium quality standards.
Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end purchasing activities for low-volume automotive projects including show cars, concept vehicles, and exclusive small series builds.
* Possess a strong technical background to communicate confidently between suppliers and Engineering/Operation departments.
* Source and develop niche suppliers capable of meeting highly customized and time-critical requirements.
* Work with Programme Management to build timing plans and release schedules, maintaining plans to meet project deliverables.
* Collaborate with the Finance Department to align external commitments and manage risks.
* Work closely with engineering, design, and fabrication teams to align procurement with creative and technical goals.
* Manage RFQs, cost analysis, supplier selection, and contracting for various components and materials, including one-off parts.
* Monitor critical timelines to support tight prototype build schedules.
* Act as the main purchasing contact for project teams, managing updates, risks, and contingency plans.
* Maintain up-to-date BOM costing and support budgeting with real-time cost data.
* Drive improvements in cost, quality, and lead time while balancing design demands.
* Contribute to cost estimates and quotes with the Business Development team.
* Ensure compliance with project, quality, and documentation standards.
Preferred Attributes
* Experience in automotive, concept vehicle, or motorsport projects.
* Familiarity with design-intent prototyping, CMF sourcing, and boutique craftsmanship.
* Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
* Experience with one-off or short-run parts procurement, including 3D printing, CNC machining, and custom interiors.
* Understanding of NPI processes and procedures.
* Ability to address issues proactively and make decisions confidently.
