An exciting opportunity has arisen for a team manager to work on the Integrated Support Unit at HMP Durham.
Operational management of a Mental Health Team, including accountability for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients are maintained and delivered at all times in accordance with evidence-based practice, while supporting staff development and well-being.
The successful candidate will work collectively with senior clinical staff to provide a comprehensive mental health service, navigating the challenges of a prison environment.
The post holder will liaise closely with their peer group of team managers in the North East Prisons. They will also be supported by a service manager and receive supervision and professional development opportunities.
The successful candidate will need to have a genuine desire to improve the lives of individuals in secure services and will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of issues relating to Mental Health, Learning and Disability or Autism, risk assessment, safety and preventing harm. They should understand the importance of collaboration and service user involvement in recovery. The candidate should demonstrate skills in collective leadership and compassionate focused care.

Experience of forensic services is desirable but not essential. Team managers will work in partnership with other healthcare providers, HMPPS, and internal and external Health and Justice services within the region. They should have excellent communication, engagement, and collaboration skills, with experience working in mental health services, preferably with knowledge of the criminal justice system.
The successful candidate should have experience working in mental health services.
