About the client
Our client is a second-year History of Art student at the University of York. He has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is a full-time wheelchair user, therefore he requires support in all aspects of life. He is seeking open-minded, confident and outgoing individuals to join his care team. Interests include visiting museums and galleries, watching sports, TV shows, and comedy movies. He enjoys attending art galleries, reading art books, and watching art programmes on TV. He is a member of the Youth Collective at Leeds Art Gallery and enjoys live music and cinema.
Responsibilities
* Personal care: Bathing, Dressing, Toileting
* Health care: Administering medicine, using medical equipment
* Driving: Confident in driving the client’s adapted van
* Daily living: Cooking, Shopping
* Support around university
* Accompanying medical appointments
* Social support visits to galleries and museums
* Housekeeping / Domestic duties
Care experience is not required as full training in the clients requirements will be provided.
Skills & Requirements
* A full, clean driving licence (Essential)
* University experience (Desirable)
* Confident driver
* Good organisational skills
* Physically fit, calm, patient and caring
* Ability to work on your own initiative
* Confident, responsible & mature attitude
* Good communication skills
* Fluent in English
* Clean and tidy in appearance
Details
Start Date: 12 January 2026
Shift Pattern: Live-in 7 days on / 7 days off
Location: York Uni (During term time) / Leeds at home (Outside of term time)
Pay & Benefits: £190 per day / £1,330 per week worked
Accommodation provided whilst on shift
5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata)
Full bespoke training in the clients particular requirements
NEST Pension Scheme
Driving licence required to drive the clients adapted vehicle
