About the Role
Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust is offering the opportunity to combine a rewarding job in haematology with an unrivalled lifestyle in the heart of one of the most beautiful areas of the country.
We are looking to expand our department and recruit a full time 10PA haematology consultant with a 1 in 5 on call rota with a specialist interest that compliments the existing haematology consultant team.
The successful applicant will be joining a team of 6 consultants and we have recently expanded to having 2 registrars on the Peninsular Haematology Rotation.
Team
* Dr Barry Jackson – Clinical lead and lead for haemophilia, transfusion and MPN
* Dr Heather Eve – Lead for myeloma
* Dr Nwe Oo – lead for laboratory, thrombosis and haemoglobinopathy
* Dr Tom Skinner – MDT and clinical governance lead
Responsibilities
* Run outpatient clinics, support patients having day case and inpatient cancer treatment by providing high quality consultant delivered care including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff.
* Join the senior medical team.
* Be proactive in ensuring all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making.
* Take ownership for and deliver your own workload.
* Contribute to the medical leadership, management and innovation within haematology services.
* Offer support and training to all non-consultant grade doctors within the unit.
* Promote inter-disciplinary working in the department and across the hospital.
* Apply current standards and evidence-based practice.
* Participate in clinical audit programme, including both departmental and multidisciplinary audit.
* Contribute to research and innovative practice within haematology.
