Overview
Occupational Therapist role at NHS Ayrshire and Arran (NHS Scotland).
What You Will Do
We are a multi-disciplinary team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and specialist nurses with administrator support. The caseload is varied and includes ward, home, community visits, and outpatient settings. We provide specialist neurological rehabilitation to patients with neurological conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury, focusing on self-care, productivity and leisure. You will work to maximise person-centred outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration and discharge planning, and you will be encouraged to participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities.
This role offers the opportunity to develop neuro-rehabilitation and long-term management skills as an autonomous practitioner within an experienced team.
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required
The successful candidate must demonstrate NHS Ayrshire & Arran values and meet the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. You should have proven experience of working in a hospital setting with patients with neurological conditions. You will gain experience in working with patients with neurological conditions in a supported environment with clear supervision.
You will participate in developing innovative models of care, using evidence-based practice and a strengths-based approach. Be familiar with the MOHO and evidence-based assessment tools to establish a baseline functional assessment that informs ongoing care and intervention to enable optimum functioning. You will work with multi-disciplinary colleagues to deliver interventions and implement local and national drivers to improve patient and carer experience. You must be HCPC registered with a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
