This is an opportunity for someone with a strong financial, accounting and tax background to assist clients across a suite of innovation advisory services including R&D tax Credits, Patent Box, R&D Allowances, Grants and Innovation Advisory services.
Role And Responsibilities
* Work with project teams to develop claim methodologies, including costing, and deliver R&D tax relief and Patent Box claims for submission to HMRC; take responsibility for the delivery of the claims.
* Lead/co-lead meetings with financial client stakeholders and provide expert advice on innovation advisory services (R&D, Patent Box, Grant Applications); support technical specialists in meetings with senior technical client stakeholders.
* Write accurate and substantive claim documents to support R&D tax claims, including reviewing documents written by junior colleagues.
* Prepare (and/or manage the process for preparing) the technical and financial elements of client deliverables, ensuring correct quantification of R&D/Patent Box claims and documenting work for submission to HMRC/Funding Organisations.
* Assist in managing client projects across tax and technical work streams and manage resource conflicts between projects.
* Assist in leading projects and advising clients on applying complex legislation to real-life situations.
* Assist with liaising with HMRC specialists to facilitate the agreement of R&D & Patent Box claims.
* Establish and maintain strong client relationships with existing and new clients; build an internal network within the wider tax practice.
* Take responsibility for your own work, delivering high-quality advice while managing risk and reputation, and coaching/developing junior staff.
Skills And Qualifications
* Honours/Post Graduate Degree in finance, accounting & tax or other related technical discipline.
* Significant industry experience in finance/tax, or detailed working knowledge of R&D and/or Patent Box tax legislation and its application to accurate claim quantification.
* Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to apply complex legislation to real-life situations.
* Excellent communication skills to lead/co-lead finance discussions and explain complex concepts to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
* Ability to produce high-quality, professional documentation and reports for C-suite stakeholders.
* Project management skills with the ability to manage own workload and delegate to staff members.
* Tax and accounting qualifications are not essential but would be welcome (e.g., CTA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
