Job Description
Spaans Babcock Limited is a specialist company in the wastewater and hydro-electric generator markets, and is part of a bigger international operating company which has existed for over 125 years. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Mechanical Engineer to join our team, taking real responsibility for technical elements of a wide variety of projects. You will be fully supported by our experienced team to grow and develop your skills as well as knowledge of our products.
Main Responsibilities
1. Design and procure mechanical parts, such as components of bearing assemblies, guarding, lubrication systems, etc.
2. Prepare drawings for layouts and lifting of equipment.
3. Carry out technical assessments of screw pump bearings and write up reports.
4. Arrange quotes for refurbishment and repair of equipment.
5. Organise and order parts for projects.
Key Attributes
1. Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar – at apprenticeship, HNC/D or graduate level.
2. Experience of AutoCAD or equivalent drawing packages.
3. Ability to improve processes, and work effectively with others to implement changes.
4. Close attention to detail.
5. Excellent communication skills with clients and suppliers.
Full time permanent role, 5 days a week based in Heywood, Greater Manchester. 37.5 hrs a week.
Competitive salary dependent on experience + 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + generous defined contribution pension + medical insurance.
Please note - this is an office-based role with sporadic visits to sites across the UK.
