Background: The UK Space Agency:
The UK Space Agency (UKSA) is an executive agency of the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) that provides technical advice on the government’s space strategy. It supports the UK space sector in delivering the government’s vision.
Space is integral to daily life. Satellites underpin our economy, supporting sectors like agriculture, banking, aviation, and shipping, and bolster national security. Space science offers vital data to address global challenges such as climate change, and space missions foster international collaboration and human exploration.
We support a thriving UK space sector, which generates an annual income of £18.9 billion and employs 52,028 people nationwide.
Through various programmes and projects, we promote the development of national space capabilities, invest in space R&D, and represent UK interests internationally, including partnerships with the European Space Agency.
