Mechanical Technician
£35,000 to£40,000 depending on experience

Were looking for a hands-onMechanical Technician to join our busy fresh produce production site at London Gateway in Essex. This is a great opportunity for someone whos keen to get stuck in and grow their skills in a fast-paced environment. Although it is a standalone role, you will be working closely with production teams, youll help drive performance through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
What youll be doing:
Carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance on conveyor belts and other production equipment
Responding to breakdowns and working quickly to get things back up and running
Working closely with the production teams to keep everything running smoothly
Supporting other day-to-day facilities maintenance across the site, to include:
Fire alarms, extinguishers, and burglar alarms
HVAC systems
Electrical systems (lighting, CCTV, main supply, portables)
PAT testing of electrical equipment (training provided)
Vending machines and water coolers
Water systems (main supply, softeners, heaters, dispensers)
Monitor the condition of the building, yard, and car park, arranging repairs as needed.
Coordinate and lead contractor visitsrelated to facilities maintenance, compliance, and repairs.
Log and manage maintenance schedulesto ensure timely completion.
Support in completing risk assessments and ensuring compliance with site procedures
What were looking for:
Hands-on mechanical experience ideally in a factory or production setting
City & Guilds, BTEC Level 3 or above in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
Recognised apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
A keen focus on Health & Safety, hygiene, and continuous improvement
A proactive attitude and diagnostic thinking
Good problem-solving skills and a practical mindset
Comfortable working in a busy, physical environment
Flexibility to provide support for a 7 day per week operation
Working pattern- 5 days out of 7 that may include weekends
Salary-£35,000 to£40,000 depending on experience
33 days holiday including bank holidays, up to 17% total pension contributions and more
