Main duties of the job To support the senior leadership team to manage a team of nurses ensuring the development and maintenance of high quality care and professional standards are upheld, take responsibility for the day to day management of the clinical area. To provide a high standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care as required within the Emergency Department. To utilise a variety of strategies and communicate effectively with patients and their family/carers. Liaise with the MDT, other departments within the trust and pertinent agencies outside the organisation. In order to deliver the above, you will require an excellent understanding and knowledge of adult and paediatric health needs including substantial ED experience and extensive post qualification experience. We receive a wide variety of Emergency patients, including Trauma, Medical/Surgical Admissions, Gynaecology, Maternity and Paediatrics. We have a dedicated Stroke service with specialised training and development available. We have a developing Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) run by our Emergency Nurse Practitioner/General Practitioners/ACP team who work closely with staff to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills in minor injury/illness management and treatment. We recognise that Mental Health is a challenge within ED and have a dedicated Mental Health Liaison team that work closely with ED and would welcome staff with experience of mental health or a dual trained qualification. We have also moved our paediatric department to another area within ED and are currently developing this area so it is a safe and secure environment to see and treat our paediatric patients. We are a supportive and encouraging department with close links to Brighton University and are supported by our dedicated Practice Development Nurse.
