Summary

We are looking for a Insurance Broking Apprentice to join our friendly insurance team. The people who choose to work for us are lovely, bright and outgoing. They’re the type of folk who want to help work with other professionals who have the power to influence and change lives. The role is based in Uckfield, East Sussex.

Wage

£17,289.96 a year

Your salary will be reviewed every three months and by the end of the apprenticeship you will be on a minimum of £18,000 per year.

Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm, with a 1 hour unpaid lunch.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

The purpose of the role is to create insurance solutions which provide people with the confidence to achieve their dreams. The majority of the duties will be office based, but as you grow in confidence and ability, we’ll let you out to see clients, visit Lloyds of London and our Underwriters.

Previous apprentices have represented the company at the prestigious Insurance Times awards held at the O2 where we have been a finalist three times.

Duties may include:

* Learning about Insurance and how it helps people and businesses
* Helping clients understand their insurance needs
* Talking to Insurers, presenting risks, explaining problems and creating solutions
* Preparing quotes and writing to clients
* Placing cover and collecting premiums
* Helping clients with their ongoing enquiries, including when they need to make a claim
* Negotiating with Underwriters and others
* Using multiple IT programmes such as Outlook and Word
* Communicating with clients and colleagues via email, face to face and over the phone
* Completing tasks and managing priorities
* Learning about the organisation
* Maintaining records and files
* Filing and general office admin
* The employer will be interviewing throughout the advertisement period

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of the apprenticeship you will complete the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner apprenticeship standard. You will receive a grade Pass or Distinction on completion.

In addition to the apprenticeship standard you will complete Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English, if you don't have GCSEs grades C/4 or above or equivalent.

The apprenticeship will be delivered fully in the workplace, and all of your Apprenticeship lessons and reviews will be completed remotely.

* Recommend insurance and premiums decisions within the limits of responsibility and in line with organisational policies and procedures.
* Gather and interpret relevant information to provide a return on insurance decisions.
* Match client’s needs with available insurance products and services.
* Optimises the potential return on insurance decisions within the scope of own role by identifying and positioning the client’s case with the insurer.

Training schedule

Insurance Practitioner Level 3 Broking apprenticeship standard

* Fully and part funded learning and development programme that includes the Cert CII
* Develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of successful Insurance Practitioners
* Role-specific route ways tailor the apprenticeship to the job role:
• Claims Handler/Loss Adjuster
• Assistant Underwriter
• Junior Broker
* Free CII membership for non-members through the CII Aspire Apprenticeship Programme
* Includes Digital CII study books and exam entries
* Resit costs for CII exams and End-Point-Assessment will be covered by the employer
* Fortnightly workshops for each CII exam
* All workshops recorded and available on-demand
* Interactive chat, forums and class notebooks for real time support and assistance from experienced and qualified insurance professionals
* Exam tips, tricks, and strategies
* Regular tutorials and assessments with your dedicated trainer


Requirements


Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade 4)


Desirable qualifications

A Level in:

Maths and English (grade C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

-When you’ve been with us for three months, we will offer you flexitime. You’ll be able to flex your work around our core hours to suit your lifestyle. You could also earn an extra 13 days holiday a year. -There is a cash plan scheme from day one to pay towards optical and dental treatment and a pension after 6 months. -A full DBS check will be undertaken before you begin the role. We will also need a personal credit check and a sanctions search.
