What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join the Technical Team, reporting to the Planning Director. The key responsibilities involve converting existing land interests into planning consents, replacing and adding to land reserves, and working with landowners, public and private sector professionals, politicians, developers and local residents.
What You'll Do As a Senior Planner
* Produce site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations, and new site appraisals for strategic sites.
* Prepare and project‑manage planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to discharge of planning conditions, ensuring accurate delivery.
* Liaise and brief internal designers, external consultants and local planning authorities throughout the submission process.
* Prepare Design & Access Statements and other planning documents required for timely applications.
* Organise supporting information and attend stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism.
* Formulate planning strategies to promote medium and long‑term development sites under the guidance of the Planning Manager.
* Deputise for the Director, allocating tasks and verifying quality of work.
* Mentor and train junior team members to increase productivity.
* Provide assistance to the Director on key business decisions and attend regional meetings as the subject expert.
What experience do I need?
* Leading the management of planning applications in a private or public sector role.
* Degree or Masters in Planning with RTPI accreditation and comprehensive planning knowledge.
* Ability to adapt to change and work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
* Enthusiastic, hardworking, willing to show initiative as part of a small team in a busy office.
* Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
