Dermatology Clinician (Remote Triage)

Application Deadline: 31 August 2025

Department: Dermatology

Employment Type: Zero Hours

Location: Head Office - London, SE15

Reporting To: Ravi Gupta

Description

We are seeking an experienced and clinically confident professional to join our Dermatology team as a Dermatology Clinician (Remote Triage). You will play a pivotal role in assessing dermatology referrals submitted via our lesion photography service, using the eDerma platform, which integrates directly with the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS).

This role is ideal for a consultant or specialist dermatologist with strong dermatology or generalist experience within the NHS who is confident working independently, values flexibility, and is committed to delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality virtual care.

The Role
As a Dermatology Clinician (Remote Triage), you will conduct virtual assessments of patient referrals received through eDerma. Using high-quality clinical photographs and referral documentation, you will determine the most appropriate next steps in the patient’s care pathway—whether that be discharge with advice, referral for routine or urgent review, escalation to a Two-Week Wait (2WW) pathway, or direct-to-treatment.
This is a fully remote position that allows flexible working hours while maintaining the responsibility for autonomous clinical decision-making, accurate documentation, and collaborative working with administrative and clinical colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Core functions, but not limited to:

Clinical Triage
• Independently review dermatology referrals submitted via eDerma, which integrates directly with the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS).
• Assess high-quality lesion photographs and referral documentation to determine the appropriate care outcome:
o Advice and discharge to the GP
o Routine or urgent dermatology review
o Escalation to the Two-Week Wait (2WW) pathway
o Referral for direct-to-treatment or minor surgery
o Booking into a lesion photo clinic for further imaging and assessment
• Accurately document all triage outcomes and clinical reasoning directly within eDerma, ensuring clarity, consistency, and medicolegal compliance.

Governance & Clinical Safety:
• Ensure all triage decisions align with current clinical guidelines (e.g. BAD, NICE) and local protocols.
• Identify and escalate ambiguous or high-risk referrals to the appropriate clinical lead or review process.
• Participate in peer reviews, audits, and clinical assurance activities to support service quality and continuous improvement.

Communication & Collaboration:
• Use eDerma to communicate structured clinical advice back to referring GPs where appropriate.
• Liaise with administrative and service coordination teams to ensure triage decisions are acted on promptly within eRS workflows.
• Flag any recurring issues in referral quality or image adequacy to support ongoing GP education and service refinement.

Service Development:
• Contribute clinical insight to help shape best practices and service development.
• Provide feedback on trends observed during triage to support wider operational and quality improvement goals.
• Stay informed about advancements in dermatology triage, digital healthcare tools, and virtual service models.

Information Governance & Remote Working Standards
• Ensure all remote work is conducted in full compliance with GDPR, NHS information governance, and DMC Healthcare policies.
• Use only approved and secure access methods to log in to eDerma and associated NHS systems.
• Maintain a confidential, secure remote working environment with reliable internet connectivity and appropriate IT equipment.
