With a unique 60-acre controlled environment facility and a focus on long-term sustainable growth, the business is now seeking a Head of R&D to execute its research strategy and drive the next phase of molecular extraction performance.
Reporting to the General Manager of Bioscience, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the overall R&D strategy—including the development and market launch of plant-derived ingredients for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic sectors. You’ll set the scientific direction, ensuring the team delivers on functional, commercial, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a strong culture of innovation. Working closely with world-leading academic institutions and the commercial production team, you will translate scientific vision into product delivery and profit. You’ll play a key role in developing unique processes, protecting high-value Intellectual Property, and ensuring the business stays at the forefront of technology advancements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading all research programs to achieve world-class standards in study design, feasibility, and regulatory approval.
* Full ownership of the R&D roadmap, milestones, and budgets to drive the business product pipeline.
* Designing and executing strategies to optimise extraction and purification processes, specifically utilising supercritical CO2.
About you:
* An MSc in Chemistry or Biochemistry is essential; a PhD in a related subject is highly ideal.
* Deep experience in natural plant chemistry is required, coupled with a strong commercial mindset.
* Proven leadership experience within a scientific R&D or manufacturing environment.
* Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in the development of plant-derived ingredients is essential (10+ years is preferred).
* A strong track record of profitable product delivery and IP creation, including processes, patents, and publications.
