Why does this role exist?
Due to an increasing volume of work, we have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our successful and expanding Fire Resistance team. The role holder will work collaboratively and flexibly amongst a wider team of Project Leaders, Assistant Project Leaders, and Technicians to provide the full range of activities required for the preparation of and conducting of fire resistance tests.
This is a trainee role, where a clear path for progression will be provided to develop the successful individual into the role of Project Leader within approximately 12-18 months. This is dependent on gaining successful competencies and meeting objectives set by the line manager.

The value this role will add:
Activities will include liaising with clients to ensure relevant paperwork is provided including health and safety paperwork, observing specimen builds taking detailed notes and photographs of the process, instructing our technician team on the setup required for the test, processing the test data and writing a technical report of the test once undertaken, plus many more tasks to support our Project Leaders and ensuring we provide a first-class testing service to our clients.
How will success be measured?
* By attaining and maintaining competence in specified fire resistance Test Standards
* Project delivery in accordance with UKAS requirements
* Test report production rates and quality
What experience and skills does the role need?
Essential requirements include:
* The ability to work in a team and under own initiative
* Highly organised with great attention to detail
* Proficient in Office365 e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Be located no more than one hour away from BRE (Watford)
Desirable requirements include:
* Science/engineering or construction work experience or qualification
* Product testing experience preferably relevant to building products or fire testing
* Knowledge and understanding of ISO 17025
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations relevant to the construction sector
