The Role:
Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is currently seeking a proactive and dependable Estates Operative to join our Estates team on a fixed term basis. This is a key role in maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of our College premises while delivering high-quality support to staff, students, and visitors.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
As a member of our Estates team, you will play an essential part in the smooth operation and upkeep of our buildings and surrounding areas. Your duties will include:
Opening, locking, and setting alarm systems within the College buildings. You will be a registered key-holder and may need to respond to call-outs as part of a rota system.Conducting regular patrols to ensure the safety of College premises, carrying out minor repairs, and reporting defects as necessary.Clearing drains, unblocking sinks, urinals, and WC’s, and maintaining building systems such as heating, alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems.Assisting with room re-arrangements, moving furniture and equipment as required, and disposing of unwanted items.Acting as a Fire Warden, performing fire safety checks, and helping maintain health, safety, and security procedures.Clearing pathways, entrances, and other external areas, especially during adverse weather conditions like snow and ice.Driving the College van, assisting with ‘cash in transit’ duties, enforcing the College's traffic regulations, and providing reception cover when necessary.About the Estates Department:
