Responsibilities
* Manage Maternity Triage and lead the triage team, including rostering, sickness management, appraisals and staff support in line with Trust policy.
* Provide expert clinical midwifery practice and deliver an excellent quality of care to service users and their families.
* Lead and support the multidisciplinary team through change, demonstrating leadership, tenacity and professionalism.
* Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable and well‑maintained ward environment, working with the Midwifery Matron.
* Act as an approachable, credible and assertive leader available to staff, relatives and service users.
* Champion research, evidence‑based practice, audit and education in the clinical area.
* Proactively seek and act on feedback from service users and the public to improve care.
* Provide a supportive environment for students and learners on placement within the ward/unit.
* Oversee use of the fully electronic patient record system and ensure high‑quality data entry.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
* Registered midwife with expert knowledge and experience of maternity triage.
* Proven clinical midwifery leadership and communication skills.
* Experience managing and supporting a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated commitment to research, audit and clinical education.
* Strong knowledge of Trust policies and current maternity guidelines.
* Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced maternity environment.
Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full‑time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. A Student visa holder will only be considered if they have applied for a Graduate visa or have completed their course and applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date.
Working Hours & Flexibility
The role offers the possibility of a job share, part‑time working, term‑time working and flexible start and finish times. Hours will be agreed in consultation with the applicant.
