Job Title: Autism Support Teaching Assistant (1:1 KS1) Location: DH8 Contract: Full-time / Term-time only Start Date: ASAP / Flexible Are you a patient, caring, and motivated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in the DH8 area, who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a KS1 pupil with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s development, learning, and confidence. Key Responsibilities Provide consistent 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with autism, both in and outside the classroom. Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow the child’s EHCP and learning plan. Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence in a positive, structured environment. Use patience, empathy, and creativity to meet individual learning needs. About You Experience supporting children with autism or additional learning needs (essential). A calm, understanding, and nurturing approach to behaviour and communication. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent experience.
