Trainee Solicitor
This fixed‑term, two‑year appointment offers a full‑time training programme across all areas of local government law. You will work under the supervision of experienced lawyers and gain practical exposure in advisory, drafting and advocacy work.
Your key duties will include providing constitutional, procedural and administrative advice to council members and officers, conducting legal research and drafting legal documents, notices and advice notes, and representing the council in court proceedings as directed.
You will also deliver pragmatic, customer‑focused advice on contracts, commercial matters and statutory interpretation for both internal and external stakeholders.
Successful candidates who have completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and are undertaking the Professional Skills Course (PSC) will be required to progress through the PSC as part of the training contract.
The role requires initiative, a solution‑focused mindset, and the ability to rise to demanding pressures and complex situations.

Candidates must have completed the LPC by 1 September 2026 and meet one of the following requirements:
* Completed the LPC by 1 September 2026.
* Completed both SQE1 and SQE2.
* Completed SQE1 (or will achieve it by 1 September 2026) and are working towards SQE2 completion by 1 September 2027.
