About Hinkley Point C
The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.
What you'll be doing
As a Design Engineer( Fire), you will have the following responsibilities,
1. To plan and lead temporary fire alarm & detector Design to support MEH Alliance, Hinkley Point installation team.
2. Maintain planning schedule and provide weekly progress report on temporary fire alarm design.
3. Coordinate end-to-end temp fire alarm & detector installation and witness test process.
4. Witness test installed alarms and signoff compliance certificate (design and install).
5. Coordinate with supplier and make sure adequate resources are on site to support alarm system.
6. Update and maintain temp alarms risk
7. Maintain site layout to show area MEH Alliance temporary alarms & detectors are installed.
8. Participate and support fire Audits.
9. Organise and update weekly alarm test.
Who we're looking for
Do you have?
10. Experience in alarm & detectors design, installation, and commissioning (both Temporary and permanent)
11. Certification in BAFE and Fire Alarm and Detection (including design, maintenance, installation, and commissioning to meet BS 5839)
12. Able to use CAD / 3D models and understand layout.
13. Good knowledgeable in Fire Safety Order 2023
14. SMSTS site safety training / CCNSG Safety Passport
15. Ability to achieve a high-level security clearance.
16. Nuclear and Major Project experience would be a benefit.
