Students and staff at National Star love their food which is why working as Chef at our charity would be such a rewarding role.You'll be creating healthy and nutritious meals for students and staff. The role is interesting and varied and will include following the planned menu and producing high quality freshly prepared food for lunch and tea so experience of cooking in a commercial, educational or care setting would be an advantage.Students have different dietary requirements and it would be up to you to ensure that they are met and that portion sizes are appropriate. Knowledge of special diets would help you to hit the ground running in this role.We'd be looking to you to ensure food stocks are rotated and that waste is minimised through the cost efficient ordering of supplies. You will be expected to order food and supplies and have knowledge of budgeting and lead a committed team of kitchen staff.We currently hold a 5* food hygiene rating and it goes without saying that you would ensure that excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are adhered to at all times. A basic food hygiene certificate is essentialOur chefs work shifts 7:30am-3:30pm, 10:30-6:30pm. Full time roles are a total of 40 hours a week over 5 days, including 1 weekend a month (10-6).
