Spectrum Geosurvey specialise in coastal geophysical surveys, supporting a wide range of clients in the offshore renewables sector. Spectrum Geosurvey are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our growing team based in our Lymington office.
The Graduate Hydrographic Data Processor will be predominately responsible for hydrographic data processing, generating client deliverables, and survey report writing. No hydrographic experience is required however, experience working with GIS and spatial data or experience of handling big data would be an advantage. Successful candidates will receive industry leading inhouse training on hydrographic data processing techniques and established workflows using CARIS HIPS & SIPS. Supported by an experienced and committed team of surveyors, the Hydrographic Data Processor will develop their skill set to carry out the following tasks within our growing company:
Under guidance, conduct Bathymetric processing and assist in maintaining quality and consistency of data processing and deliverable creation
Report preparation based on Geophysical survey data and interpretation
Data quality control and data assurance ensuring that it complies with the project scope of work
Providing a positive feedback loop to the infield survey team to improve data acquisition quality and practices
Identification, investigation and troubleshooting inconsistencies in hydrographic data
Follow and contribute to established data processing procedures and guidelines
Assist with data management and data archiving activities
Use Microsoft applications such as Excel and word, to maintain accurate processing records
Ensure the confidentiality and security of Geophysical survey data
Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Hydrography, Marine Geography, Marine Sciences or a related field
Working knowledge of hydrographic multibeam systems, motion reference units, side scan sonar and magnetometer systems
Highly competent in the use of all Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
Ability to take initiative, to problem solve and troubleshoot data where required
Excellent data management and coordination skills to handle large volumes of data
Strong technical report writing
Full valid UK driving license
Work experience working with GIS and spatial data
Prior industry experience working within a hydrographic surveying role or related industry
Project management experience
Previous work experience working with GIS and spatial data
Knowledge of Hydrographic survey planning and reporting
Experience with a scripting language (Python)
