SEMH Teaching Assistant – West Molesey Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:15pm We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our small, specialist provision in West Molesey. This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly nurturing environment with just six pupils across the entire setting, allowing for meaningful, relationship-based support and real impact. Our children present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including attachment difficulties, anxiety, and depression. Many of the pupils are closely linked to the adjacent residential home, so consistency, emotional availability, and strong boundaries are essential. The Role: Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils with complex emotional profiles Support students in managing behaviours linked to attachment and trauma Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals Contribute to a therapeutic, structured learning environment We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with SEMH needs Is calm, patient, and emotionally resilient Can adapt between 1:1 support and working with multiple pupils Understands attachment, trauma-informed approaches, or therapeutic models Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a supportive, non-punitive way Desirable (but not essential): ASDAN knowledge or experience ELSA training Background in psychology (graduates encouraged to apply) Experience in residential or alternative provision settings This is a rewarding role for someone who values small-scale, relationship-driven work and wants to make a tangible difference in young people’s lives.
