We are currently working with a weing and supportive primary school in Newton le Willows who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a KS2 pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills in a nurturing, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs within a KS2 classroom.
2. Implement personalised learning strategies and EHCP targets.
3. Deliver tailored interventions in literacy, numeracy, social skills and emotional regulation.
4. Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and learning materials.
5. Support the pupil’s independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
6. Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents.
7. Encourage inclusion and ensure the pupil can participate safely in all classroom and school activities.
8. Assist with managing sensory needs, breaks and structured routines.
9. Maintain accurate records and contribute to review meetings when needed.
10. Build strong, positive relationships with the pupil to create a safe and trusting environment.
What you'll need to succeed
11. Experience working with children in any educational or childcare setting (school, nursery, youth work, support work etc.).
12. Understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies.
13. Strongmunication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
14. Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
15. Full right to work in the UK.
16. Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
