Barnsley Hospital is looking to appoint a dynamic and highly motivatedindividual to the post of a Clinical Support Worker for the Day Surgery Unit. We expect the highest standards of clinicalcare for our patients and we are proud of our achievements regarding patientsafety.
You will be able to communicate effectively and adopt a practical common-senseapproach to working and be able to work well under pressure. The ability to motivate your colleagues withsome day surgery/theatre experience at Band 3 level is advantageous. Ideally you would be multi-skilled and haveprevious experience of working within a busy healthcare setting - beingflexible and adaptable is crucial in our busy department.
The Day Surgery Unit at Barnsley Hospital consists of 2 electiveoperating theatres, 2 minor operation rooms, an admissions area, recovery and adischarge ward. Our clinical work is varied and includes, colorectal surgery,vascular surgery, trauma and orthopedics, gynaecology, breast surgery, urology,ophthalmology, pediatric surgery, maxillo facial surgery, head and neck surgeryand oral surgery.

Main duties of the job
Asa Theatre Support Worker, you will be responsible for preparing theatresfor surgery including the cleaning of theatre and recovery areas,collecting and escorting patients for their surgeries and maintainingappropriate patient records.Tocontribute to the delivery of patients individual care needs under thedirection and supervision of a Registered Practitioner/Registered Nursewithin theatre, recovery, admissions and our discharge area.
Towork flexibly as part of a team. Undertaking movement of patients,cleaning and general duties in accordance with the Departmentsrequirements.
To be conversant with all aspectsof the Stores ordering system, stock levels and supply in the TheatreDepartment.
To liaise between Theatres andother areas to escort patients to Theatre prior to their operation.
