About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Occupational Therapist to join our Children & Young People’s Service. Based at the modern Brent Civic Centre—with an on-site restaurant and excellent facilities—you will lead and manage a small team of three Occupational Therapists, ensuring high-quality service delivery for young people aged 0–25 with disabilities and complex needs.
In this leadership position, you will balance 60% service oversight with 40% direct clinical work, ensuring waiting lists are reduced, caseloads are effectively allocated, and assessments are carried out to support independence, safety, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Management (60%)
* Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and professional support to three OTs
* Manage waiting lists and service allocations to ensure timely and effective responses
* Support the team in complex decision-making and safeguarding processes
* Ensure high-quality practice that aligns with legislation, local policies, and best practice guidelines
Clinical Practice (40%)
* Complete specialist OT assessments for children and young people aged 0–25
* Identify functional needs and create tailored recommendations for equipment and home adaptations
* Support families and carers, promoting independence and reducing risk
* Carry out risk assessments for children with complex needs and their support networks
* Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary partners to deliver holistic, child-centred outcomes
Essential Requirements
* HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
* Recognised OT qualification
* Strong knowledge of Paediatric Occupational Therapy
* Experience working with children and young people with disabilities, ideally within Social Care
* Understanding of key legislation including the Disabled Persons Act, Local Government & Housing Act, and related statutory frameworks
* Experience planning and recommending home adaptations following assessments
* Demonstrable experience supporting independence through OT interventions
* Safeguarding knowledge and experience managing risk for children with complex needs
* Experience supervising staff or students
