Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated General Supervisor to join our Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Coldingley, a Category C, adult, male prison. The role supports a self‑contained environment requiring close collaboration with teams of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators to maintain a safe and secure environment for prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
Responsibilities
As a General Supervisor you will:
* Oversee daily operations of the facilities maintenance team.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Coordinate with technical specialists (plumbing, electrical, etc.) and cleaning staff.
* Maintain facilities records and reports.
* Support the prison’s objectives of rehabilitation and positive change.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous recognised experience and supervisory skills in facilities management.
* Experience of compliance and knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
* Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management / project management).
* Strong organisational, time‑management and people skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
