Offer description

We’re building the UK's next generation engineering powerhouse, providing critical technology that strengthens national security and resilience. We specialise in turning advances in sensing, AI, and communications into operational capability for the edge, where connectivity may be degraded or denied. Our work focuses on accelerating the deployment of technology, improving decision-making for frontline teams, and protecting people and critical assets in demanding environments. Headquartered in Bristol, Rowden employs around 160 people and operates over 20,000 square feet of engineering and manufacturing facilities. We have a growing international footprint and are one of Europe’s fastest-growing engineering businesses. About the role We’re looking for technical specialists to work on key challenges for our customers. Our teams support core capabilities, working closely with users to ensure the successful delivery and operation of mission-critical systems. The Access Team is responsible for delivering secure, resilient, and cost-effective connectivity solutions across the organisation. The Access Coordinator will support the operational delivery and day-to-day management of access services, both cellular and satcom. The coordinator acts as the point of contact for all connectivity requests and is supported by a dedicated Access Manager. This will ensure timely, controlled, and compliant service delivery within approved commercial frameworks and security policies. The Access Coordinator role will help us to: Streamline WAN access request handling. Improve user experience and service turnaround. Ensure consistent compliance and governance. Maintain accurate service and spend records. Identify trends and inform service optimisation. Support the development of WAN Access capabilities. This role is based on site with our customer in Herefordshire, a minimum of 4 days per week. Candidates must be eligible for DV Clearance. More information about security clearance is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels Key areas of responsibility As Access Coordinator at Rowden, these are some of the core areas you’ll be responsible for: Serving as the primary point of contact for all WAN access requests, focusing on cellular requests and directing Satcom requests as needed. Ensuring connectivity is delivered efficiently, consistently, and with control, using approved services and suppliers, while also supporting broader WAN access activities where applicable. Providing responsive, solution-focused service delivery in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Prioritising operational agility, user responsiveness, and capability evolution while maintaining governance and compliance. Key skills, experience and behaviours We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and who actively invests in their technical skills and abilities. You’ll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have: Demonstrable experience delivering or supporting cellular or WAN connectivity services. Working knowledge of 4G/LTE and 5G public cellular services (architecture, deployment, typical use cases). Proven ability to manage service requests, track delivery status, and produce clear operational reports. Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with changing priorities and emerging issues. Strong organisational and communication skills; able to interact professionally with users, suppliers, and internal teams. Basic proficiency in Office automation, notably Excel, Word, and email-based workflow management. Desirable (not essential) Familiarity with secure or regulated environments (government, defence, finance sectors). SFIA Level 4 capability in Service Management, Customer Relations, or Incident Management. Project or programme management experience. Knowledge of commercial telco models (contract terms, SLA construction, cost models). Experience with service portal tools or ticketing systems. Familiarity with UK government procurement frameworks or MOD operating models. Experience working with telecoms suppliers and managed service providers. About you The ideal candidate will have a strong balance of technical skills and experience, however, the behaviours that we think will help you succeed in this role are: A real interest in technology and motivation to keep building your skills. Enjoys trying new ideas and tools, and looking for practical ways to apply them. Notices problems early, points them out, and helps fix them before they grow. Brings energy and initiative; if you see something that isn’t working, you want to improve it. Keeps up with new tools, GitHub projects, and technical blogs to stay informed. Thinks about how systems work as a whole - considering edge cases, failures, and how people use them. Works well with others and uses hands-on experience and problem-solving skills to help deliver high quality engineering across the company. Working at Rowden We are committed to building a flexible, inclusive, and enabling company. Our aim is to create a diverse team of talented people with unique skills, experience, and backgrounds, so please apply and come as you are! We also recognise the importance of flexible working and support this wherever we can. We typically operate a flexible, hybrid-working model, with an average 3 days in the office each week (dependent on the role). We welcome the opportunity to discuss flexibility, part-time working requirements and/or workplace adjustments with all our applicants. Rowden is a Disability Confident Committed company, and we actively encourage people with disabilities and health conditions to apply for our roles. Please let us know your requirements early on so that we can make sure you have everything you need up front to help make the recruitment process and experience as easy as possible. Finally, if you feel that you don’t meet all the criteria included above but have transferable skills and relevant experience, we’d still love to hear from you!
