About the Role
The role focuses on taking ownership of user-written Python components, elevating them to production-grade standards, and building strong relationships with business stakeholders.
This is an on-site role requiring presence in the front office of a top hedge fund 5 days a week.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement a formal framework for managing business-authored Python components.
* Collaborate with users to refactor, harden, and productions end-user Python solutions.
* Introduce proper structure, architecture, testing, and version control discipline.
* Implement automation and workflow improvements for reliability and scalability.
* Migrate existing integrations from ad hoc web services to official, supported APIs.
* Ensure all components are correctly committed to Git and scheduled jobs run consistently.
* Balance enforcing engineering best practice with encouraging collaborative contribution from non-technical users.
* Work closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Trade Assistants, and Investment Control teams to build trusted relationships and provide guidance to non-technical users.
* Act as a bridge between technology and business, offering strategic input rather than reactive support.
Required Skills
* Experience in Front Office or Middle Office environments of leading sell or buy side institutions
* Expert-level Python engineering experience.
* Strong understanding of code architecture, testing practices, and workflow automation.
* Proficiency with Git and version control best practices.
* Experience integrating with APIs and modernising legacy scripts or services.
* Solid understanding of capital markets fundamentals.
* Strong communication, problem solving and stakeholder management skills.
