Teaching Assistants are required to assist with the delivery and assessment of a number of laboratory experiments and computing workshops, as well as to provide teaching support for tutorials in Semester 1 of the 25/26 Academic Year. Successful candidates who perform well in Semester 1, are available for Semester 2 and have the requisite skills, knowledge and experience needed, will be encouraged to continue on the. Character training and university policy training required to appropriately carry out these s will be provided. Strict adherence to these would be required to remain on the teaching assistant .
Duties and responsibilities
Following the guidance of the academic staff in charge of allocated modules to facilitate the delivery of labs, workshop sessions and tutorial sessions as required, ensuring a consistent and excellent experience for students.
Labs: Supporting students in the gathering and analysis of experimental data. Marking submitted lab reports, and providing appropriate and adequate feedback.
Workshops: Supporting students as required – levels of student support may vary depending on the nature of the workshop session. Marking submitted assignments and providing appropriate and adequate feedback.
Tutorials: Supporting students in understanding taught concepts in allocated module.
Skills and experience
You must have completed, or be close to completing, an MSc in Computing, Science, Mathematics or Engineering. A strong grasp of core engineering subjects (such as mathematics, control systems, circuits, mechanics, or thermodynamics) is essential, as is proficiency in at least one tool such as Python, MATLAB, SolidWorks, COMSOL, EasyEDA or Arduino IDE. A PhD in a relevant field and prior experience in labs or computational modelling are desirable.
