Revenues Officer
We are seeking a dedicated Revenues Officer to join our team and support the collection of nearly GBP 1 billion in Council Tax, Business Rates, and other income for Leeds City Council. This role involves excellent customer service, team collaboration, and administrative duties across various revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide exceptional customer service through telephone and email communication, resolving enquiries and escalating issues when necessary.
2. Assist in coaching and training new staff members.
3. Stay updated with relevant legislation related to business rates and council tax.
4. Work towards achieving performance targets related to revenue collection and administration.
5. Handle debt collection calls and correspondence, negotiate payment plans, and liaise with external agencies and internal departments.
6. Update and maintain accurate computer records and assist in management reporting.
7. Support enforcement actions for unpaid debts, including notices, summonses, and insolvency proceedings.
8. Contribute to team objectives and adhere to policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
* Effective communication skills, capable of engaging with the public, external agencies, and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement procedures is desirable.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
