Senior MRI Radiographer – Royal Glamorgan Hospital
Fixed term contract of 9 months to cover maternity leave, with part‑time, job share and full‑time options available.
The post is based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. MRI scanners: Siemens Aera 1.5T and Sola 1.5T; CT scanners: GE Revolution. Responsibilities include comprehensive MRI examinations (cardiac, whole body, prostate, breast, enterography, peripheral angiography) and paediatric GA lists with Bed Time Scanning Lists.
Main duties
* Provide patient care as a Senior Radiographer without direct supervision; report to Superintendent Radiographers.
* Perform IV cannulation and administer pharmaceuticals in line with imaging protocols.
* Participate in the Directorate Quality Assurance Programme, monitor MRI QA, and implement changes.
* Communicate effectively with staff across the Health Board and provide instruction to colleagues.
* Act as a Practitioner for plain film referrals under IR(ME)R 2017 following required training.
* Engage in Clinical Audit processes and contribute to departmental audits.
* Train and mentor Radiographers and student Radiographers in specialised roles.
Qualifications and experience
* BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
* HCPC registration.
* IV trained.
* Relevant history of continuous professional development.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Good communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
* Previous staff training experience in a specialty.
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
* Specialist knowledge of MRI service and patient pathways.
* Highly motivated, dedicated, and open to flexibility.
Desirable
Welsh language skills (Level 3 / B2) – speaking and listening; not essential but an advantage.
