About the apprenticeship
Duties
The main role of the Apprentice Laboratory Technician will be to develop an understanding of how to carry out Chemical and Physical testing of process solutions and coatings in accordance with instruction. Under the direct supervision/guidance of a Laboratory Technician or a qualified trainer this role will include the chemical maintenance of all process solutions; to ensure they meet both Company and Customer specifications, record keeping and ensuring the laboratory is fully operational at all times. This role will involve interaction with internal operations, production and quality team.

Qualifications
Hold a recognised Level 3 qualification in a Science based subject(s). Requirements:
•An interest in Engineering and/or Science
•A knowledge of Microsoft Office – spreadsheet, database, word, powerpoint
•A willingness to undertake and appropriate course of study, which will involve day release to college – Gower College Swansea
•A customer focused ‘can do’ attitude (internal customers and external customers)
•Efficient and effective working – managing time to prioritise production deadlines
•Good interpersonal and communication skills – working with others to provide information they need to complete tasks and eliminate production delays
•Ability to work as part of a team – working flexibly and collaboratively to solve problems and exceed departmental targets
•Able to follow and work within operating processes - exercising sound judgement at all times; suggesting operating improvements to support team delivery
•Sound literacy and numerical skills
•Taking personal ownership and responsibility for being professional, punctual, consistent and reliable
Knowledge
•Working knowledge within technical/production environment (desired but not essential)
•Ability to take direction, learn and apply knowledge in a changing operating environment
•Commitment to growing specialist knowledge and learning in a science based, technical, production environment
