Pre-Construction Estimator – Glasgow
CLIENT
Linum Consult's client is a leading specialist sub-contractor, part of a larger Tier 1 major civil engineering group. Due to exceptional growth across the UK, they are urgently seeking a Pre-Construction Estimator with experience within the UK civil engineering market, to join their team in Glasgow.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assessing and appraising tender opportunities for their suitability to bid
* Reviewing tender information for the scope of works to be delivered
* Defining and quantifying the scope of works and preparing comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and finalised price construction cost estimates for projects
* Carrying out site visits when necessary to assess constraints, risks, etc. associated with the defined scope of work
* Liaising with technical departments for bearing and temporary works design requirements for tenders
* Sending out enquiries for subcontractor work packages and evaluating responses
* Analysing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
* Complying with bid governance requirements
* Compiling tender submission documents, including offer letters, BoQs, or activity schedules
PROFILE
* Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering, with a valid CSCS Card
* Minimum of 5 years' estimating experience in civil engineering projects or from a background as a Construction Engineer and/or Technician, with a strong grasp of commercial issues, costs, selling, risk, production, and works programming
* Ideally have sector knowledge in bridge/concrete repairs, structural strengthening, bearing replacement, post tensioning systems, carbon fibre strengthening, external building refurbishment, jacking & propping, or cathodic protection
* Strong ability to understand technical drawings and requirements
* Excellent IT skills, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software
* Organised, methodical, and good analytical skills
* The right to live and work in the UK, and a valid driving license
