We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team and lead quality assurance across production and customer programmes.
Purpose of the Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will be the key point of contact for customer quality concerns. You will lead investigations
(8D and 5Y investigations) into product issues, ensure timely resolution, and maintain
high levels of customer satisfaction. This role requires strong communication skills, technical expertise in electronics, and the ability to influence and collaborate across shopfloor and cross-functional teams.
Role Dimensions
The role will require overtime during peak periods or as projects demand, to ensure delivery of key objectives and responsibilities are achieved.
Principal Accountabilities
* Act as the primary quality interface for customer issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
* Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5Y, and other problem-solving methodologies.
* Provide clear and professional communication with customers regarding quality concerns, corrective actions, and progress updates.
* Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Project teams to resolve customer issues and prevent recurrence.
* Host and support customer audits, ensuring non-conformances are addressed and closed.
* Monitor and report on customer satisfaction metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support quality systems and compliance with ISO9001 and IPC Class 3 standards.
* Facilitate Material Review Boards and drive corrective actions to closure.
* Influence quality culture across the shopfloor and wider business functions.
* Ensure all activities align with Motion Applied's Safety, Quality, and Environmental systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience in electronics manufacturing and fault investigation, ideally within motorsport or high-performance sectors.
* Strong background in customer-facing quality roles.
* Skilled in quality tools: 8D, 5Y, SPC, Pareto, Ishikawa, Six Sigma.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence outcomes.
* Experience in lean manufacturing and process improvement.
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
* Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organisational skills.
* Pragmatic and solutions-focused, with a commitment to customer satisfaction.
* Comfortable working autonomously and managing multiple priorities.
