Wye Valley NHS Trust is excited to offer a new opportunity for aBand 8A Tissue Viability Nurse Specialistto lead and develop our evolving service. This pivotal role will not only provide expert clinical leadership in tissue viability but also take on strategic responsibility for theLymphoedema and Lower Limb services, ensuring a cohesive and patient-centred approach across pathways. As the service lead, you will champion innovation, drive quality improvement, and support staff development--guided by our core values ofCompassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Main duties of the job

As the Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist and new service lead, you will provide expert clinical leadership in the prevention and management of complex wounds, pressure ulcers, and skin integrity issues across acute and community settings. You will be responsible for developing and implementing evidence-based protocols, delivering specialist education, and leading quality improvement initiatives. In addition, you will line manage theLymphoedema and Lower Limb services, ensuring integrated, patient-centred care and supporting staff development across these pathways.

Job responsibilities

The Job description and person specification provides further details on responsibilities. Key responsibilities include staff supervision and development, clinical audit, policy implementation, and acting as a specialist resource for education and training across the Trust. There is an expectation that this role will be 50% clinical and 50% managerial.


Person Specification


Education & Qualifications

* Clinical 1st degree or equivalent
* Masters level study in Tissue Viability
* Teaching & Assessing Course
* Non medical Prescribing Qualification


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

* Advanced knowledge on Tissue Viability
* Experience in Teaching and developing educational programmes
* Good understanding of clinical risk, clinical governance and national benchmarks.
* Leadership and Management Experience
* Experience in developing policies/clinical guidelines


Experience

* Wide experience of clinical and nursing roles
* Significant experience of tissue viability in a senior role
* Experience of education and training of staff
* Experience of leadership and management of staff and budgets
* Audit and research - products and clinical practice
