Team–Early Years and School Readiness
About the role
2 vacancies for Early Years Home Learning Development Workers have arisen within the Early Years and School Readiness Team. Both positions are full time – 37 hours per week. 2 x full time 3‑year fixed term contract posts. The fixed term contract post is linked to reoccurring funding.
You will be expected to provide:
* Practical and emotional support to children and their families
* Plan and implement programmes of agreed work with children and their families
* Promote parents’ participation in sessions and their child’s development
You will be part of a skilled, friendly and supportive team and work closely with a wide range of professionals.
Early years home learning development workers are required to:
* Effectively support and deliver the home‑based learning element of the Best Start for Life Strategy through Family Hubs, Early Years, Childcare settings and Home environments.
* Act as a champion for disadvantaged children, improving outcomes at the earliest opportunity.
* Collaborate with Family Hub colleagues and partner agencies to support the development of the local Home Learning Environment offer and prepare children for school readiness.
* Confidently deliver packages of training for multi‑agency professionals including Early Years childcare, and school settings to ensure there is a coordinated approach when supporting children and families in early years, childcare and education settings.
* Liaise with stakeholders within and outside of the Council to support the above.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
You must:
* Hold a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
* Have proven ability to influence, negotiate and develop joint objectives with stakeholders and senior decision makers, and collaboratively achieve these objectives through effective relationships
* Have experience of multi‑agency working
* Have a strong understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Have good written and verbal communication skills
* Be able to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
* Have experience of working with families in the home, childcare/educational settings or community settings
* Be willing to work across the borough of Bury delivering services within our 3 localities
Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis with occasional evenings and weekends.
