The successful candidate will be responsible for embedding thelearning from the Sports Transformation project alongside the delivery of HUSU’s Athletic Union Sports programme, ensuring the safe and accessible provision of student and staff-led sports and physical activities as part of the Student Communities team.

About the Role
Responsibilities
* Working with elected/appointed Part-Time Officers, student representatives and key stakeholders, the post holder will support and raise the profile of student communities, particularly Sports.
* Embed the learnings from the sports transformation project, focused on improving our sporting and physical activity offer for all HUSU members.
* Facilitate an exceptional sports programme that is in line with the organisation's values and, where possible, co-produced with our student members.
* Support Part-Time Officers and student volunteers in developing high-quality student-led sports and increase student participation in sports offered by the students’ union.
* Support student volunteers to facilitate and co-create taster and one-off events and activities to provide light-touch introductory engagement opportunities for students.
* Ensure processes are in place for our sports clubs to run activities that are safe, inclusive and accessible, alongside supporting projects and events to make sure the HUSU Members Code of Conduct and policies are followed.
* Regularly carry out research with students, University of Hull Sport and Active Wellbeing, UK and International Students’ Unions and other sporting organisations on best practice in delivering sports and physical activities
* Working to a budget, plan, deliver, evaluate and promote student engagement in HUSU’s AU, sports and physical activity programmes.
* Work with external stakeholders, including University of Hull Sport and Active Wellbeing, local, regional and national businesses and funding providers, to develop a sustainable sponsorship and support model for student sport and physical activity.
* Support sports clubs in leading their own taster sessions as part of the Freshers events programme. This will include contributing to the training of student volunteers to enable them to run high-quality, safe taster sessions.
* Support sports clubs with concerns and mediation to help them reach resolutions that ensure the safety and well-being of all members.
* Work with Presidents and the wider team on the Reward and Recognition framework in which sports clubs can participate. Work closely with the President team and consult with students to make ongoing improvements to the scheme.
* Engage with students face-to-face and digitally, thinking creatively and innovatively about methods of encouraging meaningful student engagement with Union activities, including those students not based on the Hull campus.
* Contribute to the creation and delivery of training and developmental activities for our Part-Time Officers and student volunteers to enhance their graduate employability and support them in creating high-quality, safe opportunities for all University of Hull students, with a focus on student-led sports.
* Work alongside the Presidents, Part-Time Officers and student representatives to support and facilitate meetings such as the Athletic Union Council and wider student and President-led engagement opportunities and events.
* Establish and maintain relationships with colleagues across HUSU, the University, and, where appropriate, external partners, including other Students’ Unions, to ensure the delivery of HUSU’s student community-focused activities.
* Undertake various administrative tasks and duties to ensure the development and delivery of HUSU’s student communities’ activities (including maintaining accurate records, drafting marketing materials and note-taking).
* Facilitate creative engagement opportunities for students to contribute to voice and representation activities to feed into the work of reps, Part-Time Officers and Presidents.
* Encourage the development of leadership skills of Part-Time Officers through mentoring and coaching support.
Reporting and information management
* Prepare and present reports on matters relating to Student Communities, particularly the sports and physical activity programmes.
* Effectively use the Students’ Union’s CRM (SUMS) to enhance the delivery of student communities' work in line with the organisation's strategic aims.
* Monitor the payment of membership and all fees as they fall due by students through our CRM (SUMS) system.
* Conduct ongoing evaluation and monitoring of the sports and physical activity programmes to develop and improve the support and training provided throughout the year to ensure they meet students’ needs.
* Conduct regular audits of sports clubs’ risk assessments, health and safety equipment and coaching arrangements and report any concerns that need addressing.
* As a member of the Membership Services Team, the postholder may occasionally be required to support the work of colleagues within the wider team or across HUSU for joint events and activities. This might include Freshers Week, Varsity, Elections, Celebration and Award Events, Open Days and training sessions.
* Work as part of a team to cover colleagues if absent for any reason to ensure the continued delivery of activities across all areas of the Student Communities team.
General duties and responsibilities
* Ensure confidentiality at all times in the handling and dissemination of information and data and embed and implement GDPR across the workload.
* Carry out all duties in accordance with HUSU’s policies and with the organisation’s values and strategic aims.
* Ensure the Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
* Maintain an active awareness of issues and practices in Students’ Unions nationally to build on good practice and identify trends, innovation, and development opportunities. Make connections and network with colleagues across the UK and internationally.
* Carry out any other duties as may be required from time to time under the overall scope of the role.
