As the Enterprise & Operational Risk Lead, you’ll drive the evolution of the Group Risk Management Framework, delivering expert oversight, challenge and insight across the risk landscape. Partnering closely with Society senior stakeholders and the colleagues across the wider Group, you’ll shape informed decision making, strengthen risk practices, and champion continuous improvement across reporting and processes. This is a high impact role where you’ll influence change, bring clarity to complexity, and help embed a forward thinking risk culture across the organisation.

What Will You Be Doing?
You will lead the embedding of the core components of the Group Risk Management and Risk Policy Frameworks from RCSAs and risk events to issue management and data analysis, ensuring they are practical, effective, aligned with regulatory expectations and importantly provide senior management with key data and information to enable informed decision making.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Provide strong independent second line oversight of first line operational and enterprise risks, including risk assessments, control testing and mitigation actions, ensuring effective framework implementation and escalation of key risks.
2. Provide oversight, guidance and support to ensure risks are managed in line with the Group Risk Management Framework, Group Risk Policy Framework and Board Risk Appetite.
3. Lead cross cutting thematic reviews to identify root causes, systemic issues and opportunities to strengthen controls.
4. Deliver high quality, timely risk reporting and insight to senior committees, including thematic reviews and emerging risk identification.
5. Support senior leadership in delivering annual Enterprise Risk objectives, while leading priority information risk initiatives.
6. Provide technical leadership and coaching to colleagues, supporting capability development and consistent application of the framework.
What Do We Need From You?
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
7. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenge at senior levels
8. Strong technical expertise in enterprise and operational risk management (risk identification, assessment, controls, events, issues and remediation)
9. Excellent analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear, actionable insights
10. Advanced risk reporting and communication skills, including producing high quality committee papers
11. Knowledge of key risk framework components, including risk appetite, risk policies, RCSAs, and risk events
12. IRM Certificate in Risk Management or equivalent (desired)
