Summary:
The Sous Chef role at The Urchin offers the opportunity to be part of a friendly, close knit team in a successful, independent, specialist pub kitchen. Hours are consistent with the flexibility for back to back days off (the kitchen is closed on Mondays).
Previous Sous Chefs have gone on to become the Head Chef so there is the possibility for progression. The role will suit someone who prefers working in a non-corporate environment with a great, supportive team. You will have the opportunity to propose new dishes for the specials menu and take a central role with a number of fun events throughout the year such as our shellfish boil, oyster festival and summer street party.
This year the kitchen will be upgraded so you will be working in a fresh, new and expanded environment. The Urchin has been operating for over ten years and the investment in the kitchen is testament to a successful formula and strong team.

Requirements:
* Love of food, drinks, restaurants & people
* Understanding of the Urchin brand identity
* Experience leading with positivity in a busy kitchen
* Desire and ability to support and develop a young, close-knit team, effective communicator and coach to junior team members
* Team player, comfortable "mucking in" as part of a small group with a flat hierarchy
* Creative flair and ability to produce shellfish dishes to a consistently high standard
* Attention to detail, maintaining inventory levels and supplies ordering to ensure smooth operations, stock management, wastage & GP
* Thorough knowledge of food safety & hygiene regulations, working effectively with Compliance Team to ensure all required standards met
* Speak good English
* Valid right to work in the UK
