CNC Machinist / CAD CAM Programmer
Our client, founded over 40 years ago, is a leading Prime Supplier to the Aerospace Industry, providing design, machining, fabrication, component repair, electrical loom manufacture, and surface treatment services. They operate from modern manufacturing facilities in Stansted, Chelmsford, and Manchester, covering over 600,000 square feet, making it one of the largest privately owned facilities of its kind in the UK.
Your Role
You will produce 3 and 5 axis CNC programs for a reputable Aerospace Engineering company, supporting NPI and improving existing jobs across a facility with thirty-five CNC machine tools and lathes.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
* Produce 3 and 5 axis CNC programs with supporting documentation from 2D drawings and 3D models.
* Create 3D model data from 2D drawings when customer data is unavailable.
* Plan and program machining methods for components and complete setting sheets.
* Design tooling and fixtures to facilitate efficient manufacturing of precision parts.
* Communicate with shop floor staff, management, and customers to resolve engineering issues.
* Support ongoing live work and assist shop floor staff with questions.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations.
* Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
* Perform additional duties as directed by the company.
* Aim to improve cutting and manufacturing times on previous requirements.
* Stay updated with latest technology to drive continuous improvement and reduce scrap.
Experience
* Proven experience in aerospace or precision engineering.
* Ability to read engineering drawings.
* Good communication skills.
* Problem-solving ability.
* Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
* Experience with HyperMill and Vericut is beneficial.
